It took a while but it appears that summer is here.  We bought a flat of strawberries to freeze so we can enjoy BC strawberries all year.  Daniel and his dad dug up a bit of our backyard for my first vegetable garden — I call it “mon jardin experimental.”  Yesterday, the first bean sprouted.  Today, there are 12 — it’s quite exciting.

On June 15, we had our first car free festival in my neighbourhood on Main Street.  There was a pretty good turnout; however, I think people would have stayed longer if there had been more food vendors.  There were lots of community groups taking advantage of the street closure.  I stopped to chat with a few of them and snapped a few photos.  We’ll look forward to next year’s event.

Daniel is the captain of his “Bike to Work Week” team for BC Hydro PowerSmart.  He’s been cycling to work since September, 2001.  He loves his bike . . . and his job!
