Dancing with the Octopus – documentary film project
Sandy Mayzell asked me to help her spread the word about her documentary. When I met Sandy in the fall of 2008, I was impressed with her energy and her persistence. She has travelled across the country interviewing women and meeting people to talk about her project. I would love to see this project succeed.

Help to make Dancing with the Octopus a project For Women About Women and By Women.
With a prorogued government now in effect, we are once again reminded that an election is on the horizon and that the voices of half of the population in this country remain virtually voiceless in our federal politics.
As a filmmaker, I’m dedicated to using my craft to ask the hard questions about why women are not adequately represented, and what needs to change, while at the same time, inspiring women of all ages to become actively engaged in the process.
This is my Documentary Synopsis
Dancing With The Octopus: Women in Politics in Canada & Beyond is an entertaining, passionate, documentary that takes a proactive, non-partisan look at the systemic exclusion of women in politics in Canada and abroad. It asks, What needs to change, and how do we change it? More specifically it asks, who’d want to do this ? It introduces us to five spirited women, smart women who’re nonetheless foolhardy enough that they are willing to dance with the octopus – to enter an embrace with the writhing, groping, crushing beast that is that male-dominated political system. The documentary gets up close and personal with these women putting their lives on the line, determined to make a difference, whatever the cost. It shows us a lopsided world awkwardly shuffling its way to a better balance.
