Greenest Person 2008

Posted by Jennifer on Sep 18 2008 | Environment , Healthy Living , Life in Vancouver

I met Emily at a gathering in the West End in August.  Two days later I found out that she was in the contest for the Greenest Person in the World.  So, I voted for her on-line at 3rdwhale.

The winner will be announced next week at SFU.  Her last remaining competitor is Matthias from Germany who lives in Malaysia.

Choose Life - Advice for Living

I subscribe to an e-newsletter from the local resource, No Bully for Me.  Having survived bullying in the workplace, I appreciate the work that Karen and Stephen are doing.

They provided a link to a really great column written in 2000 by George Monbiot.  While it’s advice for people interested in journalism, it applies to work in all professions.

GF Strong Rehab Centre - a visit

Posted by Jennifer on Sep 11 2008 | Health Care

Yesterday, I went to have lunch with my old office mate, Karen, from the Community Outreach Service.  While I was there I learned that another former colleague died in the summer from ALS.   I stayed for the beautiful memorial service for Jenny Robertson in the courtyard.

While speaking with her husband after the service, I noticed that he was holding copies of the HSA report.  As I’m no longer a member of HSA, I hadn’t seen it.

She loved her work.  She lived a good life.
